Show Preview / Band Recommendation: Headlights

March 30, 2008

Seconding Nathan’s enthusiastic preview of the Neva Dinova show (a highlight of the Mission Creek Music Festival) coming up this Thursday at the Picador, I’d like to put in a good word for supporting band Headlights, who’ve had a strong release this year with their new LP Some Racing, Some Stopping.  It’s an album of well-crafted, pretty melodies, paired with ethereal vocals and driving beats.  If you’re a fan of dreamy, jangly indie-pop in the mode of Camera Obscura or Feist, Headlights is definitely a band worth checking out.

You can watch the video for “Cherry Tulips,” the first single from Some Racing, Some Stopping, on YouTube:

Also available on YouTube and highly recommended is “TV,” from Headlights’ debut LP Kill Them With Kindness.

Be sure to catch Headlights, as well as Evangelicals and the Western Front, playing with Neva Dinova at 9 pm this Thursday, April 3, at the Picador for the Mission Creek Music Festival!
