Videos! Videos! Videos!

April 9, 2008

Spring is slowly approaching KRUI here in Iowa City which means its that time of the season where we are getting all of those new releases you can’t wait to get your hands on.  Unsurprisingly, this new music = new music videos.  Here’s a couple that caught our eye:

BJORK: “Wanderlust”

Even if you’re not a giant Bjork fan, this video is still a must watch. Bjork is known to spend big bucks on her videos compared to any other artist out there.  This one even took nine months to create! If you’re really enthused about this video, you will even be able to purchase the DVD April 14th with a pair of 3-D goggles.

-TOKYO POLICE CLUB: “Tessallate”

-NOTWIST: “Where in This World”

-SOMEONE STILL LOVES YOU BORIS YELTSIN: “I Think I Wanna Die”

TOKYO POLICE CLUB: “Tessallate”

This new single from their upcoming album, Elephant Shell, deals with the “kids who cut their knees on that old schoolyard” as lead singer David Monks says.  Built around this fight in the gym, we here the classic distorted thick sounding bass accompanied with the handclaps over the harmonies of the guitar and keyboard lines.

NOTWIST: “Where in This World”

Its been a total of six years since their release of their past album Neon Golden that received a rating of 9.2 from Pitchfork and finally after all of the bands separate side projects, they are back at it.  Hopefully this eerie video will help them generate more hype about their upcoming album.

SOMEONE STILL LOVES YOU BORIS YELSTIN: “I Think I Wanna Die”

Out of Springfield, Missouri SSLYBY just released their new album Pershing this past Tuesday.  This video took a lot of time, strength, and sweat to make.  Even so much that their guitarist broke his hand in the making!  So in case if you were wondering that’s why they played as a three piece in SXSW.
