New Smashing Pumpkins single to be released via Guitar Hero

September 2, 2008

Sad, sad, sad. Very sad indeed, this day. In news broken to us by PitchforkMedia, it has been discovered that The Smashing Pumpkins-that Billy Corgan-led, Chicago Suburbs-borne band that did so many wonderful, wonderful things in the 1990’s-will be releasing their newest single “G.L.O.W.” exclusively through that infamous video game/music simulator/darling spawn of satan known as Guitar Hero. (DISCLAIMER-the opinions of this blog entry are those its blogster, not neccesarily of KRUI, 89.7). Instead of boring you with the exhaustive explanation of my bitterness for the Guitar Hero movement that I just typed and deleted, I’ll remind us all of better Smashing Pumpkin days. Here’s the music video for “Cherub Rock,” the lead track from the phenomenal 1993 album Siamese Dream.
