SCOPE Presents Will Bernard Live in Old Brick Church with The Diplomats of Solid Sound

IOWA CITY, IA – SCOPE Productions is pleased to announce The Will Bernard Band will be performing live at Old Brick Church located on the corner of Clinton Street and Market Street on October 2, 2008.  Local favorites, the Diplomats of Solid Sound will open the show.

Will Bernard is a two-time Grammy Award nominated guitarist and musician whose contemporary jazz tunes speak right to the soul. This San Francisco native released a number of solo albums, including 2007’s Party Hats, as well as joint projects such as 2008’s Night For Day, a collaboration with artists Andrew Emer, Benny Lackner, and Mark Ferber. This jazz musician’s love for great music knows no boundaries, as Bernard has explored working with new age, funk and even hip hop artists.

The Diplomats of Solid Sound are a group native to the Iowa City area, where many locals know the smooth funk sounds of the band’s saxes and female vocalists, the Diplomettes. Together this combination of sassy songstresses and cool vibes has created a winning sound for the musicians. They released an album earlier this year titled The Diplomats of Solid Sound Featuring the Diplomettes.

Tickets are on sale now for $9.00 and can be purchased through the University of Iowa Box Office, located in the Old Capitol Mall, where students can charge up to eight tickets to their UBILLs or through any Ticketmaster location, including online at www.ticketmaster.com.
